Warning: Fake Verification Scam
Some scammers use a "fake trust" method to impersonate reputable forum users.
The scam works as follows:
The scammer contacts two different users at the same time.
He pretends to be User X when talking to User Y.
At the same time, he pretends to be User Y when talking to User X.
By controlling both conversations, he creates the illusion that the two legitimate users are communicating directly.
The goal is to manipulate trust, facilitate a deal, and ultimately steal funds or goods while making it appear that one of the legitimate users scammed the other.
How to Protect Yourself
Always verify identities through the forum's private messaging system before proceeding with any deal.
Verification Procedure
Send a private message (PM) to the forum account of the person you are dealing with.
Include:
A unique verification code or hidden message.
Your Telegram username or profile link. Ask the user to reply through the forum PM with:
- The same verification code.
- Their Telegram username or profile link.
Why This Works :
A scammer who is only impersonating the user on Telegram cannot access the real user's forum account. Therefore, they will be unable to send the correct verification message through the forum PM system.
If the verification cannot be completed exactly as described, assume the person is not the legitimate user and stop the transaction immediately.
Rule: Never rely solely on Telegram, Discord, or any other external messenger for identity verification. Always confirm ownership through the user's official forum account before sending money, goods, or sensitive information.
