FAKE PROSECUTOR WITH PRINTER-PRINTED ID

In early July, in the Tver region, traffic police stopped an SUV. The driver — a 44-year-old businessman from the Moscow region — presented an ID of a Prosecutor General’s Office employee. Officers immediately became suspicious.

An expert examination confirmed that the form had been printed on a regular color printer. The man used the fake credentials to gain advantages on the road and avoid checks. He already had a prior conviction for a serious hit-and-run accident.

As a result, a criminal case was opened for document forgery. He faces up to one year in prison.

▪ What’s most telling here:

- even crude forgeries are still used in the hope that they will “slip through”
- a basic check of the form and print quality was enough to expose the fake
- trying to buy status with a printer-printed blank failed at the simplest inspection

🧠 The cruder the forgery, the faster it collapses under real scrutiny. “Looks similar” and “passes verification” are two very different things.
